How to deal with the poverty worldwide?
I see good news, and this is how it is. If we make every effort to become more equitable in the world, we will move into another era of our civilization. We can solve many problems which we are not able to solve because there’s no such thing as too much, too little of something that can be solved. There isn’t the time or the resources at our disposal for everything that needs to be solved. You can always say “I have limited resources to do that” or you can just stop doing them, but it just doesn’t work. It has to be done, and it’s easy to understand why that is the case. Especially when it comes to solving those big social problems like poverty, health care, climate change, etc., which are so difficult to solve, we don’t have nearly enough resources and will always run out. So here’s the solution — help. And it’s simple, but it’s also very clear. Give money to people who need it most of all, and then you’ll get the results with your money. Just start by giving 5 dollars to charity; that’s a lot. Donate a percentage of your gross income, whatever that is. Some charities give away their entire salaries every year to improve their work, others give part of what they earn a year to put toward improving the lives of less fortunate children and families worldwide. This gives you a great way to reduce your own expenses while still making an impact on the lives of those around you. A big caveat, however, is to make sure the cause is sustainable (this is important, and will definitely be covered in another article) so that you don’t lose any or all of the donations that you and the donors make together. Last note aside, it’s super obvious. When donors donate to causes and organizations, they put themselves and their lives in danger. They give these people their best shot at life. This gets my point across. No matter how often I talk about helping others, when I try to convince someone in authority to help me, the first question that pops up is “What problem are you trying to solve?” Don’t listen to society, it can only get you further down the path to mediocrity and apathy. But when you help others, you are helping yourself, and when you can afford it, you will gain an additional advantage. So, I urge anyone on the planet to come forward and contribute their share of those 5 dollars to charitable causes. Be smart and support what’s right, no matter their size or the number on the box. Because it’s the only way humanity will ever learn how to live sustainably; it’s the one and only true way.
The other side of this issue of poverty is that if you’re poor, you’re already an absolute loser, a failure, and, as David Grabber would put it, “a pariah of society.” That stigma is not going to go away. Even after many years of being wealthy, and growing rich, you will still feel left alone in your situation, especially if you are a female. Why do women suffer the same fate as men? Gender inequality is something that we should be against, and fight back against. To counter this, it’s time that we take measures that would make things better for everyone, such as working towards building a fairer economic system with universal social safety nets. Right now, over 80% of the population worldwide lives below the international poverty line, but some countries have less than 10%. As we try to fight back against global warming, with greater amounts of green buildings, we should be focusing on strengthening global governance, and making sure equality is made a priority. Every country should agree to hold itself accountable for its citizens, and everyone has a role in ensuring that all have access to opportunities and resources, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, education, disability, or other conditions.
The only way to end this endless cycle of hardship and suffering is to create a world where everyone, everywhere has an equal opportunity for their own growth, happiness, dignity, and well-being, and everyone has the chance to take control of their destinies, whether it be through finding financial freedom through investing a small amount of time, effort, and money towards wealth maximization, or simply owning the smallest footprint or smallest house possible to provide the best home environment for health and beauty. Because nobody can stop us from achieving anything that society wants, let alone anything they want for themselves. Let’s focus on fixing the root causes of poverty, which are structural rather than individual issues.
When I was young, I saw pictures of the poorest neighborhoods in America. My grandparents lived in one, and I saw firsthand that the community had nothing but bad attitudes about each other, and I saw their lives ruined by drugs, violence, lack of food, and a lack of health care. Their community was toxic and failed to even acknowledge their presence. I saw that there’s something desperately wrong with the United States, and it’s time that action was taken, and we stopped letting other countries dictate what we can do. This goes back to our founding fathers, who fought hard against Britain and its attempt at total anarchy and ultimately ended up establishing the United States of America, as the nation, we know today. From this day forward, we need to start telling politicians that we want freedom for ourselves, yes, but not without certain rights for others. And I think universal health care is one key place from which this freedom could be gained for us. And we should also fix the broken economy and minimum wage laws, which have been put in place to keep people on track to becoming financially stable by paying the lowest wages possible. Now is the time to bring about the justice system reform that will help us turn the tables on corporate greed and corruption that fuels inequality in our economies. Instead of helping to destroy our communities from within, instead of taking away jobs and turning away families, let’s build a future where everyone has a home; where no family must go hungry; where everyone has the right to a quality, affordable education; where no child or person is forced to rely on the state; and where no one is homeless or abandoned due to extreme weather conditions. Because this is how you turn the course of history. We are never, and will never stop living, on the front lines of history.
We need to begin treating our fellow humans like equals, rather than enemies. One of the biggest reasons, unfortunately, that the U.S. has had a terrible history is because political leaders don’t take seriously, how much power they have. We have to bring in new leadership that actually takes pride in themselves so that we can finally take responsibility for our actions and their consequences. In the recent elections, we saw the rise of Donald Trump. He attacked the core institutions of democracy and the rule of law, putting his campaign into full swing, including using the police against peaceful protesters, and attacking voting systems. These attacks only serve to widen the divide between those who are privileged and those who are disadvantaged in nature. We cannot allow our politics to drive the policies that affect the working class. Leaders that show our values and treat us like human beings rather than mere numbers need to be voted into office in order to help repair the economy and restore economic justice and opportunity for everyone.
At this moment, I honestly believe that the only way to fix our problems is to build a better future for everyone and stop treating people merely more than subjects than as equals. At least once everyone else realizes that their struggles are not their fault and that they have value just like us, they won’t stand in the way anymore. Everyone deserves equal rights and opportunities in the life they choose to lead, and everybody should be given the ability to vote and even start running for an elected office. Because if we truly want to solve our problems, then we have to realize that we have one, singular answer, and one common goal: to fix them. Until then, we’re stuck. Please, take a look around and don’t hesitate because it seems impossible at times. But let’s remember, this is all we have; let’s not give up now.
