How to Free Up Storage on Your Smartphone
What Are We Trying To Do Here?
Today we know how much space there is in our mobile
devices. So let's see what the problem might be when we have too many
applications and files on a laptop or computer. As long as they're not
affecting us, let's clear it out as soon as possible because the space could be
used for important things. So let's create a plan. A temporary solution to
avoid future problems. What to do next?
I assume that you don't want to clear everything on your
device at once. That's not realistic. Let's start by deleting some of the apps
that you still use, like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Skype, WhatsApp
Messenger, and several more. You don't have to delete everything to keep
everything under control. Just go to Settings-> Apps & App Shortcuts
> Delete All The App In Your Mobile Device-> Select the apps and clear
it, then put another application, Facebook messenger, that you already use.
Then delete its settings file and its Facebook account. Now go into your
settings and select Clear Cache and Clear All Data (for Android). You will have
2 options. Clear apps and data and Clear Private apps. You can also choose to
clean up the whole app. For iPhone it is different. Open Settings-> Privacy
-> Clearing Apple ID and select Clear Data and Clear All Content to clear
out everything we have and all the contents stored on our phone. Go through
every app once more and take care of the ones where you have saved a lot of
private information. For iPad it’s similar. Select Settings-> Screen Time
-> Edit > General-> Clear Items and Clear History (and it can remove
everything except your contact and calendar). Follow these steps and repeat
until everything is cleared away and then delete everything you don't need to
delete.
If you have deleted all the unnecessary files in your iPhone,
then do the same for your iMac or even in your MacBook Air as well. Clean up
all junk, uninstall a few unneeded programs, and run an easy cleanup. That way
you will have freed up more storage on your phone than you are willing to give
up. Once you are done with this process, you should feel much better. Of course, you
can always delete anything else you want to but I never recommend doing so
since you will get fewer files and it doesn't always happen. So don't waste
time and just clean up your smartphone right now. Remember, you have two storage
units. One private one for your photo files and documents and the other one for
everything else stored on your iPhone or iMac.
What Is Affected By Our Plan?
All your most important files are affected. Every program
you have installed on your phone has this problem. You can't download a video
game that requires a big amount of space. So it'll make no sense if your entire
collection of games needs 8GB. There are many programs you have installed that
are consuming a lot of room memory.
The only place where you can save space is probably on
your phone. Maybe on your computer, but in my case, it seems it's not enough.
Since I have 1 device, I'm struggling a little bit with deciding where to store
my games and stuff. Only some time ago I thought of setting up something like
Steam Cloud for my gaming experience. But I don't like using cloud services and
it takes tons of money out of my purse to purchase a subscription. I don't know
if I should even try. If I'm gonna spend $100, that is a thousand dollar bill
for a month. And I can't play online games anymore and all the titles I have
are only available on Google Play Store or maybe Amazon Games. So the question:
Why don't I download third-party apps? Because after downloading those apps I
have no more space left? My plan could be simple. Use my current library of 3rd
party developers and install their libraries on my iPhone. But I still don't
know which library is useful for me. So I am trying to figure out some ways and
make myself wait.
When Will It Change Everything?
Everything may change. Sometimes everything starts to look
different when I think about it and other times, nothing happens. At the
beginning of July 2018, the company started working on developing a system named
StorNext. It was launched and a year later Google announced that they were
going to open this project to everyone. With StorNext, everything your iPhone
knows may become totally invisible. They can move your music files without
being visible and your pictures in folders on your iPhone with full encryption.
When you copy them to your new iCloud folder they won't show up anywhere, they
can hide your passwords and everything will work according to StorNext's rules.
But when the StorNext system starts working you must turn it off and then your
iPhone will automatically reconnect. Theoretically, you can have access to your
data and information, but you will lose access to it unless you reset the
password and your iCloud will reset your iPhone's memory and your data. If anything
goes wrong, you can revert back to whatever state you had back then.
This is called 'Storage Transfer' and it works like that:
1st step: Backup all your data
2nd step: Download all the backups file
3rd step: Copy all your data over to transfer it over to
your new destination
4th Step: Keep your copies for your future
5th Step: Reset your iPhone
6th Step: Start a fresh new session and reconnect all your
data
7th Step: Install the app needed to run the application on
the new version and launch!
After the first few days, the system went very slow and I
thought they had found a bug. I didn't. After some seconds I saw the word
"Free" in the corner and understood what exactly I had done that day.
Yes, to delete all your old apps. Then you just have to click on a button and
clear these files and everything will be fine again. However, while doing this
I noticed that my iPhone shows no activity when I look at them.
My iPhone screen right before installation.
What Can I DO?
I don't know what I'm supposed to do yet, but I want to
remove all the apps that I barely use. They don't matter. I have deleted social
media, Snapchat, TikTok, and many others. I will only use my iPod touch or
iPhone's built-in camera for storing and uploading files. It's ok and I am
comfortable with what I have. No need to worry about any other apps just let me
delete them and they will disappear!
